Trust
“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
Corrie ten Boom
This is the reason people buy from you. They believe in you and without it you are sunk. And trust comes down to who you are as a person and who you are to other people too. Do you put their interests ahead of your own? Can they count on you to do what you say you will do? If the answer is “Yes,” then it is likely they will buy what you are selling and unfortunately if it is “No,” they will not, unless they desperately need what you have and they don’t need to deal with you after they buy it.
So, how do you create trust in a relationship? Be trustworthy. Stand by your word. And serve others by helping them get what they want, without regard to whether doing that serves you. Selfless service is a way to prove who you are and where you are coming from.
We’ve all heard that, “Trust must be earned.” It can be, but that is not always the case. Sometimes we meet someone that we “instantly” trust. Why is that? I believe it’s because these people are givers. They put others first. They know we are here to help each other and they live it in everything they do.
When you encounter one of these people, you “instantly” trust them. And you do because they exude goodness and are generally giving of themselves when you meet them, either in their smile, handshake or their offer to help when your shopping cart has run amok in the parking lot of the grocery store.
Want to sell more? Be trustworthy and serve others. That’s why we are here.
